my favorite John Wayne film

idk why, it just is. everything was so perfect in this film. Rio Grande is probably a runner up along with Sands of Iwo Jima

I love this movie too. It would be very high on my list of Wayne favorites with the two you mentioned, and "Red River", "True Grit" and "Rio Bravo".

This movie is just beautiful and a joy to watch.

Best Wishes,

For me, as John Wayne favorties, it would be Red River and The Searchers (two best westerns of all), followed by the Quiet Man.

Not that I didn't like FA. I saw it as a child in a movie house. Loved it then, still do.

John Wayne's part in FA is almost a supporting role. One of the interesting and likeable things about this movie is that ALL of the actors play essentially supporting roles. There is not really a dominant (at least in on-screen time) character Every character is just as important as another, sort of like a western Grand Hotel.... People come, people go. Nothing ever happens at Ft. Apache.
