so i wondering, was the film shot with that aspect ratio or has it been cropped?

as someone kindly pointed out to me in a similar question i had about The Killing, the information about this can be located on the left hand side of the movie's main page. go down to Other Info> Technical Aspects and there will be the answer.

"Full Frame" is of course, a home video term -- referring to filling the TV screen, which is, basically, 1:1;33 aspect ratio. When TV became a threat in the 1950s, the studios started using "wide screen" processes (which existed before that, but were not in wide use, no pun intended). 1955's "The Robe" is the first studio released film using a wide screen process. So, that is a long winded way of saying: any American film released before 1955 is, most likely, 1:1;33, or "full frame."
