Hudsucker connection?

I was only able to catch a few minutes of The Big Clock, but I gather from the reviews and boards that the Clock lovin' boss' building has a rather Big Clock on top that plays a Big role in the movie.

Is there any connection between The Big Clock and The Hudsucker Proxy?
An homage of sorts?

(I know there are Big Clocks in lots of movies, but, you got your corrupt big business man framing innocent employee . . .so, I was just thinking . . .)

Safety Last, Hugo, and Moonlighting all had pretty much the exact same scene as each other, and their plots didn't have anything in common, but, hey, anything can happen: IT'S THE MOVIES!

Next time, I'm watching the whole thing, no matter what my Big Boss says.

Now listen here, boys, nobody gets to say "Meh" anymore, unless you're Edward G. Robinson, see?

When watching The Hudsucker Proxy for the first time, I had to think of several films:

- The Bat Whispers (1930) the inspiration for Batman, with some awesome Gotham City-like art decoration
- Bringing Up Baby (1938) and other Howard Hawks screwball comedies
- It's A Wonderful Life (1946)
- The Big Clock (1948) which made me think of Will Eisner's film noirish SPIRIT comics
