Question about ending SPOILERS
Okay, I didn't get the part about the strangler/burglar. Was Bogart the strangler? Did Barbara Stanwyck find that out at the end?
I feel like I missed a major element of the plot.
I'll assume this is not a troll and will answer in faith...

Bogie was not the strangler, and that was not what Barbara realized at the end.

Bogie was trying to kill Barbara (he was slowly poisoning her just like wife #1) and that was what she realized. And since she knew he was trying to kill her, he obviously couldn't poison her. Therefore he had to find another way to kill her and get away w/ it.
When he saw the headline in the paper and realized that he could strangle her and blame it on the burglar/strangler! So he tries to kill her by strangling her.
Course he doesn't and gets caught by the cops and admits to killing wife #1; you do have to recall what the code and morals of the day would allow. Nowadays, she'd probably have just shot him!

Why so snarky??? Just because someone asks a legitimate question about
this film doesn't make him/her a "troll." So, you assumed they're not
a troll and answered the question. Goodie for you. Sarcasm wasn't
necessary.
Actually, he did try and kill SALLY (Barbara) in exactly the same way....with the poisoned milk! She was wise to him however, and threw the milk out the window. It was WHEN he realized this, he tried to strangle her.
shareI agree, gbennett-why the sarcasm? Perfectly innocent question. Sometimes I think people on message boards take out their frustrations on others and hopefully would never act this way in person.
