Did she just jump off that cliff after reading the note? Was she thrown from the horse? Looked like a bullet hole in her blouse...

It does not explain how she died but he finds her body with the goodbye letter he left for her.
We saw earlier in the film that she loved that place and that the path was very steep and they had to help each other down so it could have been an accident but I think suicide.
