this movie is absolutely terrible

first of all, it's not even in color.

and where's the widescreen, huh?

but more importantly, where's the CGI and 1,206 cuts-per-minute, shaky-cam cool stuff? and believe it or not, the audio is low-fidelity *mono* -- are you kidding me?

where's matt damon or ben affleck in the writing credits? and how come it's not narrated by morgan freeman?

like i said, this movie is absolutely terrible... and it wasn't even post-converted into 3D.

I know you're being sarcastic, but I gotta say, I actually didn't enjoy this film at all.

reply

no worries. i'm a cinematographer, so i love the lighting and shooting... i'm also a fan of mitchum. but unlike practically everyone else on this crazy board, i ain't gonna rip you a new one. movies are just like anything else and personal preference is your right. freedom of choice. i have it and respect yours.

there are hundreds of flavors of ice cream out there -- and i love ice cream. why then would it be wrong that i prefer chocolate to vanilla? i mean, how dull would life be if we all liked the exact same things?

and now some jackass will show up here soon telling us *both* how wrong we are -- lol -- idiots.

reply

I always try to be as polite as I can when I speak negatively on a movie, otherwise people will call you a troll. Personally, if someone hates a film that I love, I don't rip them as long their opinions are valid, even if I don't agree with them.

I just can't stand when people come on these boards looking for a fight and say: "this movie sucks. You're on drugs if you think otherwise".

reply

I could understand if this particular film isn't your cup of tea, but if you seriously don't like it because it's in black and white and/or almost 70 years old, then I would think you are ignorant

reply

Hey, sam, is that you again? Anyway, I thought this movie was actually okay.

reply

I think someone accustomed to color would have to adjust. Try to look at the black and white cinematography in a new way. Many of the scenes were painterly.

The dialog is a scream. No one has mentioned the nighclub where Kathy's maid and her date and friends wete dancing. How cool was that and the clothes.

Jeff constantly refers to himself being in a frame. In Whit's office he is practically asleep, almost wanting to be taken over by someone or something else. He got his wish.

reply

I love this film so much.

reply

Really enjoyed it .Thought Greer and Mitchum was great. At least some thought goes into the older films, most new films are absolutely crap.
I wasn't sure what was going to happen until the end -you can't say that about many films nowadays

reply

This movie is absolutely one of the best movies of all time.
