Tyrone Power was a pretty boy swashbuckler

That's why his being cast in this seemed so bloody unlikely...and yet he amazingly carried it off beautifully...perhaps his best performance.

Where am I from, you ask? "Pomona, Glendale, ((Fullerton, La Habra, Anaheim)), whatever."

I agree. This was Tyrone Power's best performance. He was able to carryout the highs and lows of his character's role.

who was never given his due as an actor precisely because he was so handsome. He had considerable stage experience and was good at both comedy and drama. His performance in this was apparently his attempt to shake the pretty boy roles but it didn't fully work. He was simply too good looking for many to take seriously. Too bad because he had some real acting chops.
