Best films of 1947

The film that won the Oscars for Best Picture & Best Director was Gentleman's Agreement. That's not in my Top Ten for the year, which are:

Body & Soul
Ghost & Mrs Muir
I See a Dark Stranger
Kiss Of Death
Life With Father
Miracle On 34th St
Monsieur Verdoux
Nightmare Alley
Odd Man Out
Out Of the Past

I hope to see Boomerang some time soon.

Interesting selection, paynejeremy. Lots of classics most people haven't seen. I would like to read similar lists for the other years of the 1940's. Do you have more?

reply

Another Tyrone Power opus Captain From Castile is splendid in every way.

Others:

Great Expectations
A Double Life
Possessed
The Unsuspected
Pursued
Ride The Pink Horse

I don't see how you can make a list of the ' Best Films of 1947 ' and not include ' Crossfire ' or ' Dark Passage ', or how about ' Brute Force '?

Perhaps you should post your own Top Ten list, idiot. Hopefully there are other jerks like you who'll question why certain films are missing.
