Brillant film but uneven in parts and unfortunately the ending does not ring true. I thought he should some how die for the sum total of his wicked deeds and not be offered redemption ala hollywood.

Being offered a job as a geek is hardly redemption. More like a living hell. It also brought the Stan's career full circle, as the man he replaced early in the movie was a geek.

I have to disagree with you there, my friend. I find it to be one of the great, great endings out of all of the film noir pieces I've seen. Blows me away every time.
