Soundtrack

Bernard Herrmann's music for this movie was glorious! I was stunned to learn that he got no awards at all for it; he was definitely robbed. His music set the tone for the entire movie. Only section of music I did not like~~~when Lucy heads for the publisher's office. That was so irritating, like squawking birds!

It is lovely, isn't it? When I found out the soundtrack was available, I had to get it...

How sad, that you were not born in my time, nor I, in yours.

Isn't it gorgeous? The track "Andante Cantabile" from the scene where an adult Anna comes back and discusses Captain Gregg with Lucy is my absolute favorite. Hermann said he thought this score was his best work, and I agree.

It is one of my favorite soundtracks of all time.

I love this movie, and the score is superb. My favorite is the theme (Lucy's Theme?) They play when shpwing time passing, a-la the post weathering over time lapse against the sea. So sad, lonely, and dignified.
I really need the CD.
Definitely should have at least been nominated.

I just acquired a copy of this soundtrack, and I agree that it is as good as Herrmann's other classics.

"The Egyptian", "Fahrenheit 451", "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", "The Day the Earth Stood Still", and "Jason and the Argonauts".....all wonderful scores.

An amazing talent...
