Have your own Gull Cottage experience on the Northern California coast

I first saw this movie on TV, probably when I was about 12. That would be about 1959. Always loved it, but never watched the TV show. The magic wasn't there for me without Tierney and Harrison. Then in my 30s, a friend of mine brought to my attention how wonderful the soundtrack is. Totally correct. Now I how 2 versions of the soundtrack, both wonderful. Through the years i've wanted to vacation at a "Gull Cottage" and the closest I've found is The Sea Ranch on the Northern California coast 100 miles north of San Francisco. This is a wonderful place where you can rent houses by the sea for a few nights or a week. Situated on wide meadows, most houses have ocean views, fireplaces, jacuzzis with nearby trails and paths that lead to cliffs above the ever changing sea below. Take a copy of the movie and the soundtrack with you and you'll get goose bumps as you watch it in this magical setting. I have done exactly that. Check it out...

I've always loved this movie (and I'm just a few years younger than you) but never knew until TCM and IMDb, that it was filmed on the beautiful coast of CA! I was born and raised in Northern CA. Thanks for the info about The Sea Ranch. If I ever head out that way, I'd love to check it out!

BTW...did you know that the opening scenes in The Uninvited with Ray Milland were also filmed on the coast of CA? yup!
