What was Paula and Steve's Plan? (Spoilers)

I assume that part 1 of their plan was to kill Mike (Glenn Ford) and pass it off as the death of Barry Sullivan. What did they plan to do next? If Barry's character is supposedly dead, then did they plan on leaving the country or something. Maybe the movie doesn't really say.

I'll go with the standard plan for movie criminals of that time: go to Mexico.

Another essential element of the Film Noir disappearance. There's always the plan to take rich people fishing for hire. Paula would be the charming hostess and cook, of course.
