Miscast
I think George Sanders is terrific as an actor and as a personality. I really don't find him that beleivable as a lumberjack, however.

shareAgreed, but he was still watchable and he's got a great voice. Very sophisticated lumberjack...
shareI have to agree, George Sanders as a lumberjack is high on my list of the worst miscasts of all time. He was perfect in the role I remember him most for--the manipulative highbrow critic in All About Eve--but this was just ridiculous. And people complain about Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist--at least THAT had humor value!
shareI thought he was believable as a lumberjack, but I don't recall him from any other movies.
shareI believe estorberg has (probably unknowingly) uncovered a truism here with his post.
When people complain about some actor or actress being 'miscast', it is actually all in their minds.
A person 'P' who thinks an actor (or actress) 'A' is miscast in film 'F' is simply thinking of 'A' in some previous film (or films) that 'P' has seen 'A' in. If 'F' is the first film that 'P' has seen 'A' in then of course it doesn't occur to 'P' that 'A' is 'miscast'.
LOL Enjoyed your observation, yakikorosu ;)
shareWho WASN'T miscast in this movie? The three leads were all wrong for their roles, but it's not as if they had a convincing script anyway. It's a mostly forgettable movie.
Frankly, I can't think of an actress who could have made anything out of the leading lady role. It's a terribly written and conceived role -- although the scene at the church in which Hedy Lamarr pledges money is memorable. Her motivations are vague -- but the scene is good.
It's the only memorable scene in the movie, but at least it's something.
George Sanders was known to get really physical in the Saint movies so he could play tough. I reckon he does a good job in this.
