RIP Splash Mountain

The fanatics have finally succeeded. As of today, January 23, 2023, Splash Mountain in Walt Disney World is closed forever. They moved the construction fences in overnight and started to gut it so the change cannot be undone. According to the proposal that was announced in 2020 to convert it Princess and the Frog, all the animatronic figures will be removed and screens will be installed to lessen operating costs.

Supposedly Disneyland will be announcing their closure soon.

Thankfully, Tokyo Disneyland has refused to close one of their most popular rides. So that Splash Mountain will now be the only one.

screens. they use them on the mickey mouse ride that replaced the great movie ride. i was intrigued from seeing some clips on youtube but when i watched the full ride it was underwhelming.

hearing that the frog & the princess ride will use screens makes me happy i already rode splash mountain many times. i almost thought the new ride might still be cool, with the bayou setting and stuff, but now i doubt it.

That ride doesn't need a theme, or animatronic figures or screens or any of that shit. People take water rides because it's hot and they want to get splashed! Adding some speed and sloshing would be more to the point.

All that time, creativity, and money put into such a beautiful and very fun experience wasted because of fucking nonsense. It's madness.

It is, April. Social media have given the socially retarded and angry a platform for their insular hatred.

I loved Song of the South when I was little. I am white and heterosexual. Perhaps that makes me evil.

'Social media have given the socially retarded and angry a platform for their insular hatred'

Perfectly put.

It's so sad, my spouse and I went to Disney World 20 or so years ago, and we had no idea what Splash Mountain was about except it looked like a flume ride. Expected something like Big Thunder Mountain with just some nice theming elements added, was pleasantly surprised with the indoor ride experience. That turned out to be our favorite ride that day and rode it a couple more times. What a shame.

The thing I rmemeber most about splash mountain was the smell which was like a swamp.

will be resurrected at universal studios with same story and mostly same animatronics

That would be great if another theme park was able to take this and run with it after copyrights expire in 15 more years (2039), assuming Disney doesn't re-release this horrible racist blot on their film history in order to renew the rights.

The Orlando just opened. Reviews are not good. Some say too much dead space inside the attraction. Disney CEO Bob Iger was actually caught saying "This is boring" after he tried it.
