Fred MacMurray in a cameo??

This may sound crazy, but in the scene where the ambulance takes the two men to the hospital, we see the Mortuary sign on the wall when the doors open to remove the gurneys. First two orderlies appear to open the rear doors, then two other orderlies appear for a few seconds -- one has a cigarette dangling from his lips.

I'd swear that was Fred MacMurray.

Now there are numerous uncredited actors listed on IMDb for Postman, but MacMurray's not included.

However, consider this: MacMurray made 3 films in '43, 4 in '44, 4 in '45, and 3 in '47 -- but only one in '46, when Postman came out. So his schedule would've permitted it.

And it struck me that his career was established, after years of mediocre roles, when he made Double Indemnity in '44. The connection there is that both pictures were adaptations of novels by James M. Cain.

Would MacMurray have made a gesture of uncredited thanks to Cain by this walk-on in Postman? We'll probably never know.

(I am NOT a conspiracy theorist, and I don't have too much time on my hands. I just finished watching Postman on TMC, and thought I'd put this out there to see if anyone else saw what I saw, and thought what I thought.)

It wasn't MacMurry. After reading your post i paused the movie at the part you mentioned. Wasn't him. Sorry.

Many thanks. Now, at last, I can sleep. Not The Big Sleep, but sleep.
