Postman may have rung 3X

After watching this movie for a third time, once as a child, one wonders what went on between Garfield and Totter(Madge),while Turner was away. Her presence is merely "touched on" by Garfield and Turner in their conversation towards t the end of the film. Is this dealt with in the remake? Perhaps it was left on the cutting room floor? There are many unanswered questions.

In the book she's pretty important, while Cora's away he cheats on her with this - Madge? - and then she wants him to run off with her to Africa and capture tigers or something, but at the last minute he doesn't do it. I think her presence was to show us that his wandering instincts were tamed by Cora, because this wildcat lady's proposition is damned tempting to him. Normally he would've jumped at the opportunity. She comes back to haunt him a little later, Cora finds out about her... the thing is, twice he runs away, sort of, and twice returns... this Cora is an all time magnetic femme-fatale, he just can't escape her.

I'll dig out my copy of the story and refresh myself about this character. She was pretty interesting.

Thanks. There are tons of reasons why things are left out. Maybe Turner's character would deminish, maybe it was too wild a prospect for a 40s movie under the code.

whatever he did to madge and how many imes he had effed her in all possible positions existed i still don't get it why the postman must have rung thrice... he only got away once (2 rings) but never got away 2 times (3 rings)

What was unanswered exactly? He cheated and later explained they were going to run away together but didn't. What do you need? Graphic sex scenes?
