Remake was so terrible

I saw the classic original movie. Then I saw the remake and I thought it was terrible. I thought Jack Nicholson was totally miscast as Frank. After seeing John Garfield, I couldn't see Jack Nicholson in the role. Actually I pictured Sylvester Stallone as Frank in a remake. You know, someone more like that. I just didn't see Jack Nicholson as the stud that shows up and sweeps Cora off her feet. Stallone back in his heyday could've pulled it off.

But I thought Jessica Lange was an even worse choice. Lana Turner was the perfect choice to play Cora. But how do you go from Lana Turner to Jessica Lange? I'm not saying Jessica Lange is unattractive, but come on. She can't even compare to Lana Turner. Lana Turner was like something out of a dream. Jessica Lange next to her, looks plain. I don't know who I would have cast as Cora, but I'm sure there was someone out there better than Jessica Lange.

On closer inspection, it might appear it´s Turner who´s miscast in the role of a wife of some senior citizen drunk that runs a small gas station in the middle of nowhere. People looking like ultra glamourous Hollywood starlets usually aim a little higher than that.

This movie is a remake! The original is an Italian movie (Ossessione, 1943)...much better than this movie! I haven't seen the eighties version.
