VIRGINIA CHRISTINE TOLD US ABOUT 'THE KILLERS'......!!

In 1982 I attended a 'movie convention' in LA that I still fondly remember to this day........many of the old-timers were there and I met her and husband, Fritz Feld, at a panel discussion..she said that when "The Killers" was first purchased, that the producer promised her the lead role of Kitty..unfortunately for her, this was the time that Ava Gardner was starting to 'make waves' in Hollywood....so they decided to give Ava the role they'd promised VC......she told us that she understood, while of course being disappointed in the casting change!...the producer had promised her a role in the film, and he lived up to his word.....the character of the, I think, detective or policeman's wife was written just for her, and I don't believe that character was part of the original story........

She also told us that her "Mrs. Olson" commercials for Folger's coffee? she'd done them for twenty years, (!!!) and she said she earned more from those commercials than she did in her entire film career.....

A great time getting to meet and chat with a really nice couple!!!!
