Was I the only one who found Ballin hot?

I thought he was super sexy! He was so elegant, yet still so dangerous.

Far more appealing than Johnny.

reply

femmefatale, I agree. Thought I was nuts to think this! Glad someone agrees with me.

reply

Oh yes he is hot. A lot more than Johnny. So no you are not the only one.

Gotta love that huge scar on his cheek too. If the movie had been set in 2012 instead of 1946, Ballin probably would have had tattoos and body piercings.

The scar made me think of the ones German students used to get in duels. It would not be surprising if he were of German descent and it would be in line with his doing business with the Germans during the war.

reply

Yes, I looked him up to see if he was German and got the scar in a duel at university.

McCready was still pretty cool 20 years later as Mr.Peyton in PP.

I heard a rumor, they say you got a broken heart

So you made me look him up to to see the origin of the scar. Sabres are more exciting, but here's what IMDB says:

The scar on Macready's right cheek was the result of a car accident during his college days. According to his son Michael Macready, George and some fraternity brothers were riding in a Model T Ford when they hit an icy patch on the road. They struck a telephone pole, and George went through the windshield. His friends could find only one doctor in the vicinity, who happened to be a veterinarian. George did get his cheek stitched, but he also ended up with scarlet fever, apparently because the veterinarian didn't wash up properly.

I love it every time he shows up in a movie or a TV series! I've always found him fascinating~the scar, the elegance, the voice, the whole look! And, he's always worth watching, even "The Alligator People"! Now, if he can keep his dignity in "TAP", that's really something!

Again, his voice makes him instantly recognizable when I'm out of the room. I don't move all that well (fibro/arthritis/etc.), but I always manage to make it back in the living room when I hear him!

*sigh* Yes, he is "hot", a very desirable man, especially when he plays aloof roles as in "Gilda", which I am watching yet again. I like Glenn Ford, too, but George is why I always catch this film!
