shareThe original THE HAUNTING (1963), THE UNINVITED (1944), and THE INNOCENTS (1961) are generally regarded as the best ghost/haunted house movies ever made and I tend to agree.
While GHOST AND MRS MUIR, THE PORTRAIT OF DORIAN GRAY, BLITHE SPIRIT and THE CANTERVILLE GHOST are other examples of well-liked 1940s ghost movies.

share'High Spirits' with Peter O'Toole and Darryl Hannah. And there's are several other versions of Blithe Spirit. I've seen the 1966 one on Youtube - with Dirk Bogarde. Madame Arcati was played by Ruth Gordon, Clint Eastwood's Ma in Any Which Way You Can.
