Her love for her Dad

I have watched this movie, many times. I do not believe, correct me if I am wrong, that I have ever seen a daughter "so much in love with her Dad", with his many flaws, as Peggy Ann Garner (Francie). All the really old, great movies, all of them. She comes across as being "so real", LOVES her Dad, unconditionally, believes everything he says, his dreams, inspirations, looks so forward to him coming home...priceless....what a "beautiful performance"

Nicely put. It's one of my ten favorite films. If you can get hold of it, I highly recommend a greatly underrated film from 1986 called ' Desert Bloom '. Most people probably feel that Jon Voight gave his finest performance in Midnight Cowboy. I feel that his performance in Desert Bloom is pretty close to perfect. However, Annabeth Gish probably gives the finest performance of her career in this film.
