shareIt's UNBELIEVABLE that this isn't available on DVD yet!!!!
I'm with you, pobasted, release it already!!!!
Superstar in your own private movie - I wanted just a minor part...share
If you're tired of waiting, as I was, you can find it on bittorrent. The quality isn't the greatest but at least you can watch it if you want.
shareThere are now all-region issues on Amazon, and there is a Kazan boxed set that includes it.
shareAvailable now on DVD from Netflix. Might be a Korean release but that's not an issue when watching in English.
Film is sentimental but tackles social issues directly. An impressive directorial debut by Kazan.

You don't have to wait for this on DVD. I did a search on eBay for:
DVD "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn"
and bought a region free (Region 0) copy of the DVD from Korea for not much money.
It's in English (as is the packaging) so all you have to do when you play it is turn off the Korean subtitles (it will play anywhere in the world since it's Region 0). In all other respects it's like a U.S. release of the DVD, and the image and sound and packaging quality are first rate.
Do you have the seller's name? There are some on eBay now but they are listed as in Spanish with subtitles.
shareFox has this title back on their upcoming release schedule, so it should be available on DVD early in 2009. This had previously be scheduled for release as one of their Studio Classics but was pulled. The art work for the cover was all done and the DVD was reported to have a commentary track that featured Ted Donaldson, who plays Peggy Ann Gardner's brother in the film. I have a Laser Disc copy of this title and I am looking eagarly for the DVD release.
shareI got this movie on DVD on Ebay. It is a Korean import and was less than $25 altogether
