Help wanted please. My recording of Scarlet st ends after Edawrd G Robinson has been kicked off the park bench and he sees his his paimnting of the lday being taken from a shop window. It looks like this is end of the film but does anything significant happen after this?
While he is wondering the streets though, he passes by the art gallery and sees his portrait of Katharine 'Kitty' March being sold for $10,000. He gets his last look at her face and then reminded that he was a great painter that could have had it all, money & freedom, but now is just a haunted, tortured soul.
Well said, Draac. I just saw this for the first time, on TCM. Cold weird movie, it you ask me. I suppose Kitty was meant to be a prostitute, which makes the story even sadder. I felt sorry for the pimp character Johnny at the end. He didn't deserve that, as mean as he was.
