My goodness what a nasty, horrible woman, can you imagine being married to her. No wonder Chris turned into a bad guy.

Agreed. Neither of her two husbands liked being married to her. She did have a nice figure but had a horrible attitude to even the person whose radio she listened to.

All the women in this movie are hideous! Someone had a hell of a chip on his shoulder...could you imagine this movie with the genders reversed?

Rubbish, the men weren't any better. Chris Cross is a nice guy but a complete sucker and milquetoast (typical Noir), Duryea is bad guy, husband No.1 is a crook, Cross's boss is a cheat...

I mean we're talking about Noir here. There rarely are any nice, decent and upstanding characters to be found.

I agree with you that most of the men and most of the women were bad.

However there were a few good ones,

Kitty's friend, Chris's friend and the Police Inspector (played by Thomas Jackson as he did in 'The Woman in the Window')
