Why didn't they come after him?

When he was in the "hospital" it was half jail and halfway house ... he was under arrest wasn't he? When he escaped and stole the doctor's coat why didn't they come looking for him? Any thoughts on this?

reply

they didn't notice he notice he was escaping. And when they find out, he would be on his way already. Besides that, he didn't tell his name, and I'm not convinced that the male nurse was really interested in his identity.

The hospital had a closed ward. The patients taken there are not seen fit of caring for themselves, so they are locked in for their own best interrest. The same with patients of most mental disorders.

reply

Yeah, but the nurse said they had his wallet ... they could get the address from that ... and he did tell them his name.

reply

He didn't actually commit any crime, besides, as Bim says, 'you'll be back', why bother going after a drunk? Either he will find his way back home or end up back in the ward again. It's not like they don't have their hands full.

being drunk in public is a misdemeanor and Bim did say it was half way jail ... half hospital ... plus the thief of the doctor coat ... but it could go as you suggest too

reply

If the ward attendant's opinion is considered, they took it for granted he would bounce right back to them.

reply

yeah ... I would image they'd have better things to do than looking for one drunk even with the thief of the doctor's coat.
