Where in NYC is his apartment?
There is a nice establishing shot zooming in on his window near the beginning. I suspect the east 30's or 40's in manhattan but would be grateful to hear any thoughts.

Since posting my query, I read in a large + excellent pretty recent book on NY in films (am sorry I don't remember the title) that the view from his window is from between 2nd and 3rd aves around 53rd or 54th streets (actually i think you need to work it out from the screen blowup in the book). Curiously this is very near where the view in Rope for the elaborate window scenery is from too.
In the book, he gives his address as 311 East 55th Street, Manhattan. In fact, they ask him in the alcoholic ward, twice, to test his orientation. He doesn't do so well on the day of the week, though....
shareHa. If you go to google maps street view of 311 E 55th, you'll see a truck for Hendrick's Gin in the street out front "( A Most Unusual Got n). LOL.
