There was no 'Lost Weekend' book. The original name was The LAST Weekend.

One of Milland's best roles and really well executed.
Wyman? I wonder why she was cast really, the weak link of the film.

According to Robert Osborne TCM, Wyman was loaned out to Paramount after some other actresses turned down the role..First choice was Olivia DeHavilland...But this role did open up doors for Wyman whose career did take off as a result of this film..

Yes. And instead of "War and Peace," Tolstoy was originally going to call that novel "War: What is it Good For?"

Before I met the great lady who would become my wife.
I was going with someone who's parents were both kooks, the mother who had insomnia
was also a real hypochondriac when she would feel ill on Friday night she would tell
my girlfriend let it Be a LOST WEEKEND At that time I hadn't as yet sen the film but knew the plot. Man how they used to get on my nerves

It was only in later years that Billy Wilder discovered that the title of Charles R. Jackson's novel is actually a typo. It was supposed to have been called "The Last Weekend".
