shareI love that movie but I don't consider it to be a legitimate continuation of the Frankenstein, Dracula, and Wolf Man series. To me, it takes places in a parallel comedy universe or something.

What an assinine notion.
It's much more appropriate to ignore this and House of Frankenstein while hailing Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein.

Since "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" is my favorite comedy, I would have to agree with you.
No blah, blah, blah!
Considering that Abbot and Costello features all three monsters effectively, with Bela Lugosi reprising his iconic role as Dracula for the first time since the original film, I think that movie is more legitimate than either of the House films.
Yeah however good it is it's not part of the 'series'
Naturally if you want to make a comedy and use monsters it would maks sense to get an all star cast to play them.
