I know the Count was trying to goad Frederick into a duel, because he thought Garance loved Frederick.
However, after Lacenaire pulled back the curtain, recealing Garance in the arms of Baptiste--it was obvious that Frederick was not her love---so why did the Count challenge him anyway--rather than going after Baptiste?

The Count didn't challenge Frederic after Lacenaire has displayed Baptiste and Garance together. He's going to challenge Baptiste- remember, Garance says she'll talk him out of it- but Lacenaire kills the Count first.
