The title

So why's it called Dead of Night? Those words aren't said in the film. I'm thinking it was just a genereic, spooky phrase to tell the audeince "This is a scary movie." Any other thoughts?

I know who I am! I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude!

I have theory: All the action takes place at night in the head/dreams of the protagonist. As they are, by virtue of being dream characters, not 'alive', they could be described as being dead. 'The' Dead of night refers to all the characters apearing in his recurring dream/nightmare.

Just a thought. What's any body else got?

There's nothing special about it but it's a literary term used to describe the middle of the night when everybody is asleep and nothing much is going on.

It's usually written as "in the dead of night" and can imply something spooky, sinister, underhanded or generally not something that happens during the light of day when everybody can see what's going on.

It refers to "the witching hour" where anything's possible.
"Those words aren't said in the film."... that tortures me.

We've met before, haven't we?
