The way they setup Bogart's character, and how they caught him at the scene of the crime. Just like a Columbo mystery :)

There are definite parallels, and one key difference:
While Columbo followed a similar "open mystery" structure, the audience always knew -- throughout the story -- that Columbo was trying to trip up the killer. In this movie, we never find out that Greenstreet is suspicious of Bogart and trying to trip him up until the end.
