Cover up?

I've always wanted to find out the answer to this question. Underneath the main title of the movie, there is a gray horizontal box (nearly) the same color of the background that is covering up a line of text that the studio didn't want us to see. The same gray box (much more overtly) covers up a line of text at the end of the re-issue trailer of the movie directly under the title. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwE2HDSRtaA&feature=fvw

Does anyone have a clue as to what was being covered up?

I think it is a reference to RKO, the studio that originally released the film. It is covered up in the trailer too.
