Who played the dog?

I thought that one of the two or three best actors in the picture was the dog. Yet no credit was given to him. Does anyone know who played him? Did he perform in any other pictures or stage productions? Also, when the writers created such a pivotal character as the dog, why did he just disappear from the script? Were they perhaps planning a sequel? So many unresolved questions.

He was "Corky" the dog, he only played parts in 2 movies I know of, Bells of ST Marys being one of them, the other was ;

WHEN'S YOUR BIRTHDAY?, Edgar Kennedy, Corky the Dog, Suzanne Kaaren, Joe E Brown, 1937
Corky played "Zodiac" in the movie.

So Corky was at least 9 years old in "Bells"

The 1937 movie can be found on youtube

The "Everett Collection" in NJ has old photos they license out for a fee, they have 4 photos of Corky in the 2 movies with the caption of; "Corky the dog"

The part where Corky sits up in a pew behind Mr Bogardus in the empty church and loudly YAWNS, is simply hilarious! I found no mention of his trainer, but he had to have been trained to yawn on cue, that must have been quite a lot of work!
