Slim's 'Happy Dance'

I just love this movie, and one of my favorite moments is when Slim does the little booty shake near the end. It was such an unexpected thing for her to do, since she was so cool and unflappable. She was unbelievably gorgeous, sexy, and sassy! Just loved the witty repartee. The chemistry between them was ridiculous! One of the truly great love stories (in real life).

It's hard to believe Lauren was only 19 when she made this movie. She seems so much more sophisticated than that age might portray. Nevertheless she was absolutely stunning in this movie. The scene where she instructs Bogart on how to whistle is a classic. They did indeed have wonderful chemistry.

yeah, Lauren Bacall really knew how to shake her sexy booty!
BTW I'm agree, Lauren was only 19 at the time the movie was being shot, however she looks more older and mature. It's only when she smiles like a little naughty girl, after the "happy dance", when we realize how young she was.

Beautiful Bacall... Bogart was a lucky bastard!

"One of the truly great love stories (in real life)."

I've read/heard that they would often show up with black eyes and fat lips from having bloody fist fights. Apparently they wouldn't always end that well for Bogy. If that's a truly great love story, you're welcome to it.

Um, I think you're confused...

Bacall & Bogie never fought like that - they were truly, madly, romantically and deeply in love.

Perhaps you're thinking of Bogie & his wife before Lauren, Mayo. Those two would fight, physically at times, and got the nickname "the Battling Bogarts."

or maybe you're thinking of Hepburn and Tracy??

I too have never heard anything about fights btw Bogart and Bacall...

that was Bogie's wife before Bacall. The one before Bacall was a boozer and would throw things and hit Bogie while she was drunk.

Bogie and Bacall's marriage was much quieter and filled with much more than just love, it was filled with understanding and companionship.

Ditto, I found that wiggly hip scene such a turn-on - and I'm a woman btw!
Bacall's husky voice is guaranteed to bring men to sighs.
The chemistry between B & B was truly infectious.

I read Bacall's autobiography years ago,and from what I remember they had a great marriage, right up to Bogart's death. They had(I think) a couple children and their house was a favorite gathering spot for their friend's...Hollywood's biggest stars.Bogart's ex-wife was an actress with a serious drinking problem, and he left her only after trying to help her on several occasions. So they really were a great Hollywood romance.Another interesting, but tragic romance was between Patricia Neal and Gary Cooper. They met on the set of Ayn Rand's "Fountainhead"...one of my favorite movies and if you want to see intense romantic scene's...you should see this movie. I would think what they had was more typical of Hollywood romances.I recommend both autobiography's.Patricia Neal's life(As I am)was amazing and unbelievably tragic. She had uncommon strength, but both women were uncommon, and both have my respect.

Bogart and his previous wife (Mayo) were known as the "Battling Bogarts" and were still married when this movie began shooting. Howard Hawks supposedly disapproved of Bogart and Bacall's romance but knew how to make use of it in the film. Dolores Moran's character (Madame de Bursac) was originally the 'second lead' and romantic interest, but her role was diminished and Bacall's expanded, when the chemistry became apparent.

BTW- I always love that 'wiggle in her walk' at the end, myself.
