What happened to all the threads on this board?

It's not just that IMDB did a recency clean-out, because there's one thread that still hasn't been posted on since 2007.

But then it jumps from 2007 to 2010.

What happened to all the threads I remember posting on in 2008 and 2009?

There were several threads about "Did you cry?" and about "A Merry Little Christmas" and so on.

Where did all those threads go, created by people who loved the movie? Surely all those people haven't deleted their accounts.

IMDB just does that.

I'm not sure what algorithm is used to determine what threads to cut. It probably has to do with the last post, rather than when the thread was started ... maybe some other factors.

It's always the latest post, which is why it doesn't make sense that all the posts and threads from 2008 and 2009 are gone.

I don't have an answer. The Merry Little C's thread must have been too controversial. Some preferred 'muddle through somehow' too vociferously.

It's the Bainbridge algorithm. Very old school.

NEVER write anything on the IMDB boards and trust that it will be there when you want it to. Save early, save often.

How and where do you save stuff, don?

reply

in an email to myself usually.

OK thanks.

or you can save it as a document.

Or you can re-post it periodically.
