Both are overly emotional, overly dramatic schemers, so they have more in common with each other. Rose and Agnes are the older of each pair, and seem a little more self-possessed.

shareThe whole family coddles the two younger girls. They were the most annoying and I could've done without their whole Halloween subplot, and the lying, and everyone just lets it go. Though Tootie's "The iceman saw a drunkard get shot yesterday and blood spurted out three feet!" is probably my favorite line of the whole movie

Psychotherapy was in its pioneering stage back then. If a person needed counseling, maybe they talked to the local doctor or nurse. Perhaps even a teacher or minister.
