Halloween night
I love how Mrs. Smith is totally cool with her kids throwing flour in people's faces! I guess at that time it was expected and was considered harmless fun :)

shareNot only that, but the neighbor, Mr. Braukoff, seemed to be rather unfazed by his fate at the hands of Tootie. In fact it appeared that he may well have been expecting it, and was doing his part as a good neighbor to let her "have her way" with him, in the spirit of Halloween.
I'd love to know more about how Halloween was celebrated back then, and what was considered normal behavior. Looks like kids had gotten the "trick" part down pat, but hadn't yet figured out the "treat" part.
Badgers? We don't need no stinkin' badgers! But if you could show us something in a nice possum…
The treat came later... Ice cream and cake, remember?
