What was the deal with the black scotty dog that kept walking in and out of the elevator?

I love all the Maisie movies, especially the first 5.

I understood it to mean that the dog was going "walkies" on it own, that this was a routine thing: taking the elevator to outdoors and a convenient tree then returning home.

On "Frasier", Eddie was shown running to the elevator, ahead of whoever was taking him for a walk, knowing the routine.

The dog was my favorite thing in the movie. It was so random. I think it just liked riding in the elevator. I loved how no one ever paid any attention to it or mentioned it or explained it.

My favorite, too. It reminded me of the "penguin" in the 1980's Scottish film, "Gregory's Girl"--I had no idea that had a precedent. (Funny that it was a Scottie, considering.)

going to watch my recording here in a bit, again. Love the Maisie movies. am going to listen again to see if there is anything said about the dog. I thought maybe a part was edited out.
