Who was better as the detective?

Thanks.
Personally, I prefer the Robert Stack portrayal.

I have seen that version. Robert Stack has a harder edge to him, in general, so I could see why you'd prefer his performance in this role. Andrews has a more world-weary mien, and I prefer that for this role.

Never seen it... in fact, I wasn't even aware that there was a 1960s TV movie version of Laura. It certainly has a notable cast: Robert Stack, George Sanders, Arlene Francis, Farley Granger, Lee Radziwill. I would definitely check it out if I ever saw it come up on cable TV someday. I wonder who played the part of Bessie, Laura's uncooperative maid - the one who gave the detective such a hard time?
I haven't been able to find out who played Bessie (yet) but check this out...http://premingernoir.co/2014/01/17/lauras-remakes/ I love that Anton Walbrook played Waldo in the German tv version.

The TV version was awful . . . Stack was beyond stiff as a board . . . Miss Radziwill's career soon ended . . .
