Diane just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
All the drama and relationships revolved around Laura.
"Rebecca" was more present by her spirit. I don't get the feeling the Diane had the same (or any) influence on the characters in "Laura."
It should have been called "Waldo Diane Laura".

No. Rebecca and Laura were the women others were obsessed with in their respective movies so it makes sense those movies have their names as the titles.

That wouldn't make much sense.
1. The movie is not about Diane; it's about Laura. Naming it 'Diane', who is only briefly mentioned, would have unnecessarily confused and distracted the audience.
2. Even though Diane was the one killed, Laura was really the one murdered. To find the right killer, the investigation had to focus on the intended victim, not the actual one.
