The trivia section says he was originally meant to reprise his role as Dracula for this film. I wonder if he would have taken exception to Dracula's consumption of wine. The line, "I never drink... wine," is easily one of the most famous quotes from the 1931 film.

The famous quote in this movie and possibly all time in cinema history is "Not this way, quicksand, quicksand, not this way."

I like John Carradine, but he wasn't right for Dracula.
