dame may whitty really steals the show

just sayin'. i started cheering at the end when she finally manages to slip into the house. it couldn't have gotten any better!

There is nothing like a dame.

I couldn't help but laugh at the part. And at the end too :)

I have to admit, I found her mostly annoying... could've done without her in the movie alltogether
now Joseph Cotten is another matter, LOVEd him and his character. So sweet.

I adored Dame May and her character.

Do not mistake my incredulity for disbelief.

I adored her! And I couldn't help but laugh out loud at her scene at the end. I really liked her in this and it was wonderful to have a breather during her scenes from all the intensity of the rest of the film, so I thought it was perfectly balanced. Joseph Cotton was a doll in this too - loved him.

I really enjoyed the movie, and the atmospheric setting as well. Gregory was charming & it was easy to see how any woman would've fallen under his spell, although it didn't take me long to just hate his character so much! I was actually hoping that Ingrid Bergman's character would kill him at the end!

Quite easy on the eyes as well.

I agree. Her character was overdone. Too many scenes with her. Maybe in 1944 the director thought the movie was so intense it had to have lots of comic relief.
