Ingrid at her Best!!

Forget Casablanca, this movie is just as enjoyable! And Ingrid just shines off the screen. She is very talented and beauty too....how lucky can a person get?

Cartoonists have the best casting system. If they don't like an actor, they just tear him up.

Bergman was a great actress, and director George Cukor definitely had a knack for drawing great performances out of his stars. See A Star is Born for a masterful performance by Judy Garland--if you only know her from her innocent Dorothy roles, that film will blow you away.

Totally agree... this was her best performance EVER.

reply

Yes, this was indeed her best film.

reply

Gone far too soon, I hope CGI brings her back to us one day.

Ingrid was incredible. Makes you wonder what Gaslight & Casablanca would have been like if Hedy Lamarr had taken both or either roles...

I think Bergman was a phenomenal actress. In Gaslight , she is so fragile one expects her to crack any minute.

They just don't make them like her or this film any more.

She is excellent in Gaslight. That said, Bergman is better in Notorious, Autumn Sonata, Casablanca, Europa 51, Stromboli and Inn of sixth happiness. Her performances in the first three movies are iconic and legendary. I think she won the Oscars for the wrong performances.

reply

And the AMPAS did not even nominate her for Notorious, Casablanca and Inn of sixth happiness. WTF?
