Teddy and Mr. Hoskins

Always wondered why Capra introduced the sound of Teddy falling or throwing Mr. Hoskins down the steps after he closes the door.

It's not in the original script, and for me takes away from otherwise a well done scene.

I think He's carrying him down stairs and misses a step and falls down the stairs. I've heard that movies and tv's have to hit different notes. They changed the ending to Little Shop of Horrors. I think it was the director who said it was because after the play, the actors come out and take a bow which reassures the audience they're actually okay. Movies don't have that same opportunity.

You know, I still can't tell if it's a dummy or a real person he's carrying. The hair and the shape of the hands look real, the, um, posterior looks unreal. He struggles with the weight realistically enough.

I'm also enraptured by the lighting; such a beautiful mix of light and dark-- like when Dr. Einstein lights the gigantic match and says "Where am I? Oh here I am".

For every complex question there is a simple answer. And it's wrong. ~ H. L. Mencken
