How did I miss this?

I was surprised to find this movie on TCM last night. I've never even heard about this movie, sort of weird because of the number of young stars who were in it. I'm not a big Mickey Rooney fan but he was great in this. I've always felt he overacted in his roles but in this one it he was good. It was definitely sentimental but sometimes that is appropriate, especially in a war movie. There was a crazy good cast! I love Frank Morgan in everything. He is usually so charming. There were so many young stars in this: Robert Mitchum, Donna Reed, James Craig, Van Johnson, and Marsha Hunt! They were all small parts but kind of cool to recognize all of them. I didn't check it, but I think this may be their debuts or a very early movie for all of them. Anyway, it's a terrific movie; I recommend it.
