Meg Ryan directing the remake???

This is odd but in a recent article in the Boston Herald it was reported that Meg Ryan may be making her directorial debut with a remake of this!

"Word is, Ryan, who has produced three flicks, including the 2001 Jennifer Lopez comedy “The Wedding Planner,” will soon make her directorial debut with a remake of William Saroyan’s 1943 biopic “The Human Comedy."

Hmm! I'm kinda intrigued... She's pretty smart, and this might be the best way for her to work on a good drama - the ones she ends up starring in never turn out well either critically and/or at the box office.

God lets hope not. They are classics for a reason.

I agree. This film is perfect. I wouldn't entertain the thought of watching another actor try to portray Homer. Mickey Rooney is, in my opinion, the greatest all-around talent Hollywood has ever seen - and he portrays Homer beautifully in The Human Comedy.

I don't really see how it could be remade. It is so homey, simple and small town like life was back then. People today would find it boring since it is a nice family story and not bloody and won't have sex.

I guess Ole Meg thinks she needs to remake some movies, like the Women, to help put some air in her deflated career.

God I hope she isn't. This could never be remade because as someone once said The Past Is A Different Country.

When you buy a dog you buy a small tragedy.

according IMDB it is in post production and Meg Ryan is listed as the director with Tom Hanks starring - it has been retitled Ithica

I read it is supposed to be called ITHACA. Its release date is set for December 2016 I believe. I recall reading she might be in it too. She could play Mrs. Macauley, the protagonist's mother.
