So, who was the British CO supposed to be, please? Anyone have a take on this? Thanks.

I thought he was Billy Mitchell, who predicted pearl Harbour and fought for the development of air power. He died in 1936. They say at the beginning that they "miss he had a chance to fly these modern machiens" or some such thing.
