Thing is - there are no movie stars today. I mean REAL movie stars like the old days. Today movie stars are stars for about 5 minutes - like george clooney in three kings or dead like tom cruise after fantastic role in collateral - went down like rock in the water. They just doesnt do their regular job. I mean last reasonable movie star left is bruce willis i guess. On the other hand that days in 1940 you could choose from wide variety of cast :bogart , Wayne , Cooper.
Today movie stars are fighting to death for a roles in a movies like "babel" where main character is doing his great act by crying on the phone and there was some accident or sth in the desert. GREAT i mean such a fantastic plot ... its so dramatical its funny. What direction does people and movies go ?!? Just to see and show some guy crying. And his role costs 20 million dollars for some crybaby ? Movie entertainment goes into dogs.
Thats my opinion a little aside of the point youve taken.
