Thank you Ray Heindorf!!
One of the unsung heroes of this picture is musical director Ray Heindorf. Along with his team of orchestrators, including Frank Perkins and Gus Levene, Heindorf gave YANKEE DOODLE DANDY the quintessential Warner 40's musical sound. He nearly topped himself the following year with THIS IS THE ARMY, but YANKEE DOODLE DANDY remains an astounding achievement of musical arrangement and direction. Heindorf created the Warners sound with 42ND STREET and he kept it going right through THE MUSIC MAN. Thank you Maestro Heindorf!!
