Sig Rumam really was awfully funny in this movie a very good character actor. This film is full of quotes. Speaking of him I saw Stalag 17 last week. He is my fav character actor wearing a German uniform.

I love Sig Ruman in this and his other foolish-Nazi-roles.

Wouldn't it have been awesome of Werner Kemperer had played Concentration Camp Ehrhardt and John Banner played Schulz, in Brooks' remake?

It would have been great, except, even if john Banner (1910-73) hadn't passed on about ten years prior to the remake, he would have been too old for the part.

This was the reason I came on this board! I was wondering if that's where the TV show "Hogan's Heroes" got the name/idea. SCHULTZ!!
